Single secure sign on
The scale of benefits achievable from SBR is dependent on the number of businesses that choose to report through online channels. To achieve the maximum possible take up rates of SBR, the use of a fit for purpose, single authentication process (i.e. a single sign-on facility for safe online connection to all the agencies involved in SBR) is needed. The authentication facilities for SBR will ensure the right balance is drawn between the level of security that should be attached to each transaction and the level of usability that users expect.
Today, the lack of such a facility is a major deterrent to increased online business-to-government interactions. Many businesses find it too tedious and time-consuming to register separately with each agency in order to deal with them online. While the development of this facility is part of the SBR Program, once in place it will be available for much broader use across government agencies.
