Overview
SBR is an Australian Government initiative that responds to demand by Australian businesses and intermediaries for government to reduce the reporting burden. Every state and territory government is involved in the SBR initiative. In January 2008, the Treasurer and Minister for Finance and Deregulation jointly announced that SBR has taken its first steps in meeting the Rudd Governent's commitment to reducing the red tape burden on Australian businesses.
As July 2010 SBR implementation draws closer, SBR will be stepping up its engagement with the business community to ensure they are aware of the benefits of using SBR.
Working with SBR as you build SBR/XBRL-enabled software will put you in a strong position as the government moves to harmonise its business reporting language. Getting on board early will give you the opportunity to gain a competitive edge and increase/retain market share.
Software developers are encouraged to stay in contact with SBR.
